TOKYO: Japanese rubber futures fell on Wednesday, after the government said it would widen a state of emergency to curb movement as rising COVID-19 cases threaten to overwhelm the country’s medical system.
Osaka Exchange’s rubber contract for January delivery finished 0.5 yen or 0.2% lower at 217.3 yen per kg.
Japan is set to expand a state of emergency to eight more prefectures, taking the total to 21, the minister in charge of coronavirus countermeasures said on Wednesday.
The rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for January delivery fell 0.5% to close at 14,475 yuan per tonne.
