Pakistan is the third-largest contributor to U.N peacekeeping missions across the globe

To commemorate the United Nations’ 75th Anniversary, Pakistan’s Armed Forces released a statement, citing the country’s deep commitment to ensuring peace in conflict prone regions across the globe, and the extent of their sacrifice in that responsibility.

Across many of the world’s major conflict zones, beginning with Congo in 1960, Pakistan has deployed peacekeepers since the past six decades, having sent more than 200,000 troops for 48 missions in 28 different countries - making it one of the largest contributors to the peacekeeping missions in the world.

As many as 157 Pakistani peacekeepers have died in their line of service, which is the culmination of the presence and commitment of Pakistan’s security personnel in restoring peace and stability to turbulent nations around the globe, and a critical juncture of the country’s foreign policy.

As of now, over 6000 personnel have been deployed across 14 ongoing U.N. missions, with Pakistan serving as the third-largest contributor of peacekeepers in the world.
