HAMBURG/PARIS: The lowest price in the first round of offers in the tender from Turkey's state grain board TMO to purchase around 135,000 tonnes of milling wheat on Thursday was estimated to be about $255.00 a tonne c&f, traders said in initial assessments.

The offer was believed to have been made for about 25,000 tonnes for shipment to the port of Samsun, they said. It was submitted by trading house Mova.

This was followed by other offers of $257.85, $258.47 and $259.67 a tonne c&f. Offers for other shipment positions were mostly over $260 a tonne c&f.

No purchase has yet been made and talks continue, traders said. Shipment is requested between Oct. 16 and Nov. 2.

The TMO traditionally goes to several rounds of negotiations in its tenders seeking lower prices than the initial offers.

Red milling wheat is sought in a series of consignments, with five of 25,000 tonnes and one of 10,000 tonnes. The wheat is for unloading in the Turkish ports of Derince, Izmir, Band?rma, Tekirdag, Samsun and Trabzon.

Offers are sought for wheat with a minimum 12.5pc and 13.5pc protein content.

The TMO reserves the right to buy up to 5pc more or less than the tender volume at its own discretion, the traders said.
