PESHAWAR: Upward trend in prices of essential food commodities, including live chicken/meat, fruits, pulses, vegetable and others was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday. It was noticed that price of live chicken/meat has touched new peak and crossed double century as available at Rs221 per kilogramme. Similarly, cow meat is being sold at Rs 500 per kilogramme while mutton was available at Rs 1000-1100 per kilogramme. According to survey, the prices of pulses, food grains remained unchanged in retail market, as rice is being sold at Rs 170 per kilogramme, good quality rice (Sela) was available at Rs 170 per kilogramme. Dal Mash is being sold at Rs 280 per kilogramme, Dal Masoor at Rs 160 per kg, white Lobiya at Rs180 per kilogramme. Big-size white Channa was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme, whereas small-size white Channa is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogramme. Dal Channa is being sold at Rs 180 per kilogramme, it was furthered noticed. Likewise, red bean is being sold at Rs 240-220 per kilogramme, Dal Chilka (black) at Rs 260 per kilogramme, Dal Chilka (green) at Rs 220 per kilogramme. Malka Masoor Daal was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme and Moonge is being sold at Rs 200 per kg. A nominal decrease in prices of vegitable was witnessed according to which garlic is being available at Rs 300 against Rs 350 per kilogramme, ginger is available at Rs 400 per kg against Rs 450 per kilogramme. Onion is being sold at Rs 70 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 80 per kilogramme in the previous week. However, the price of tomato remained stable in market which is being available at Rs 40-50 per kilogramme. Green chilli is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 150 per kilogramme in previous week. Lemon was available at Rs 300-400 per kilogramme. Cucumber priced at Rs 40-50 per kilogramme against rate of Rs30 per kilogramme in the previous week. Cabbage is being sold at Rs 70 per kilogramme against the prices of Rs 50 per kilogramme in the previous week while cauliflower was available at Rs 50 per kilogramme. Bringle was available at Rs60 per kilogramme. Turnip is being sold at Rs40-50 per kilogarmme. Red potato is being sold at Rs50 per kilogramme, the survey witnessed.
