Expressing his concerns with opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan former captain Ramiz Raja has pointed out that the aggressive opener is changing his batting style.

“I am a bit worried about Fakhar Zaman, because he is trying to alter his batting DNA by playing technically and stay on the wicket. These are all good things but is he capable of making these changes so late in his batting career? I don’t think so,” Raja said at Ramiz Speaks.

Raja was of the opinion that Zaman plays like former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag due to his hand-eye coordinated batting style.

“He should play with a positive intent, because we get to see Fakhar’s best form, when he is hitting and Pakistan would get a lot of benefit from it… I don’t think that he has the game to leave the ball and stay on the crease, so the best thing for him is to attack the opposition,” said Raja.

Zaman only managed to score three runs before he was caught against England in the first ODI.

The first ODI of the five match series between England and Pakistan ended in no result, after rain forced the game to be abandoned. The two sides would clash again in the second ODI, at Southampton on Saturday.
