The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar warned on Saturday that whoever tries to hinder the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohamand Dams will be tried under Article 6 of Constitution of Pakistan.

During a hearing regarding mineral water companies using underground water and selling it in bottles, the CJP said he will take action against those who attempt to oppose the construction of the dams, local media reported.

"My only purpose is to serve the nation," he said. Adjourning the hearing till tomorrow, the CJP summoned chief executive officers of all mineral water companies.

The SC had recently come under criticism regarding its initiative towards the construction of dams. The CJP had said that the top court was not doing politics as some individuals had said but doing it for the public interest.

Regarding the underground water case, the CJP was informed by the government's counsel that water companies were buying the underground water for Rs25 per litre and then selling for Rs50 per litre. The counsel also revealed that till 2018, the companies were selling underground water for free.
