Bill Gates is no longer the wealthiest man on Earth, as new reports have suggested that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is now the richest man in modern history, having net worth more than Gates.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the net worth of the 500 richest people in the world, Bezos reportedly became the richest man in modern history on Monday having a net worth of $150 billion, more than Gates was ever worth.

On the other hand, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates went down to being the second richest person in the world, having net worth $55 billion less than Bezos, around $95.5 billion. The record was once held by Gates who was worth $149 billion back in 1999 after adjusting for inflation.

Moreover, Amazon’s shares rose up to $1,822.49 on Monday, over nine points from when the markets closed on Friday. However, these shares are expected to rise up more after Amazon’s Prime Day bonanza that kicks off today, as per Daily Mail.

For many years, Gates and Bezos have been up and down the race of being the world’s richest person, but it should be noted that Gates has donated a significant amount of his net worth to charity as well.
