Pakistan bowling all rounder Faheem Ashraf is currently working on improving his defense in order to cement his position in Test squad.
“At the moment, I am working on my defense and the skill of leaving the ball. I was told that you can play the shots, so you will need to improve your defense in England because it is easy to attack the ball but not vice versa,” Ashraf said while taking to former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja.
The youngster impressed many with his batting in the first Test against England at Lord’s, hitting a blazing knock of 37 off 38 deliveries. Pakistan went to win the first Test by nine wickets.
Ashraf credited bowling coach Azhar Mahmood and his ability to infuse confidence into the youngsters as the reason behind the rapid strides the bowling all-rounder has so made so far. “He always says to play with heart and not to get bothered with getting out or worry over leaking away runs while bowling, which gives me confidence and my performance improve accordingly,” he said.
Ashraf played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s success at Lord’s, with the series 1-0 in, the visitors eye to grab the series in second Test being played at Headingley, Leeds.
