Farooq Sattar ready to accept Bahadurabad faction's nominees for Senate

Rift between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan's (MQM-P) factions might finally end as the party leader Farooq Sattar has offered to withdraw the names of candidates he nominated for Senate elections and instead accept the four candidates nominated by the Bahadurabad faction.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Sattar said that the Rabita Committee should send him the names and he would announce them. "I should now not be blamed that I was stubborn regarding the candidates for Senate election," he added.

His announcement was welcomed by MQM-P's Bahudurabad faction member Aminul Haq, who said that they will discuss the matter before announcing any decision, local media reported.

Farooq Sattar removed from MQM-P convener post

Rabita Committee removed Sattar from the party convener’s post on February 12 and replaced him with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as the new convener. For the past two weeks, there had been an altercation between the two factions regarding candidates nomination for the Senate elections.

Difference between the party began when MQM-P leader Amir Khan and Sattar got into a disagreement after Sattar wanted to name Kamran Tessori in top four by sacrificing two of the top four candidates for the Senate general seats. After the session, without their chief present at the meeting, MQM-P’s top decision-making forum removed Tessori from the coordination committee and suspended him for six months.
