imageKARACHI: Former Pakistan skipper Younis Khan has been named to lead revamped United Bank Ltd (UBL) cricket team in the next month's Quaid-e-Azam Cricket.

"Yes Younis Khan has joined UBL and will lead the team in premier first class event of the country," said head of UBL Sports Department Nadeem Khan while announcing an 18-member squad on Tuesday.

Younis Khan left Habib Bank after playing for them for around 15 years.

Nadeem said over a dozen new players have been inducted in the team to make it formidable unit, a 2-day binding camp of the team will be held at Arabian Sea Country Club from Wednesday.

UBL which reached the final of President's Trophy two years will be looking to regain the past glories of eighties and nineties when they dominated Pakistan cricket with Irfan Mirza as the chief of UBL Sports Division.

He said Younis Khan may be missing the opening two matches of the first class event. But joined the team after the Test series against England being held in United Arab Emirates. However, he did not name the deputy to Younis Khan.

UBL have hired four Test players and six international in their line-up.

Rumman Raees, Wajihuddin, Naveed Sarwar and Adil Raza has been retained from the team which played last year.

Umer Rashid has been named as the coach of the refurbished team. UBL squad: Shan Masood, Sharjeel Khan, Hammad Azam, Wahab Riaz, Sohaib Maqsood, Ehsan Adil, Younis Khan (Captain), Ruman Raees, Gulraiz Sadaf, Umar Siddique, Umair Khan, Fazal Subhan, Mir Hamza, Wajihuddin, Naveed Sarwar, Adil Raza, Karamat Ali and Adnan Baig. Officials: Umer Rashid (Coach), Nisar Khan (Physio), Hanif Malik (Trainer/fielding coach) and Asghar Hussain (Video Analyst).
