imageKARACHI: Former captain Javed Miandad has said that Pakistan players needed more improvement in Twenty20 International ahead of next year's ICC World T20 Cricket Tournament.

"Pakistan faced a stiff challenge in the T20 series against Zimbabwe before taking it 2-0," he said in an interview on Monday.

"Though Afridi's Pakistan team won the series but it think Zimbabwe was benefitted from it than the host," he commented.

Pakistan's batting great Miandad complimented Mukhtar Ahmed for his excellent batting show to lead to victory.

However, he said a player can not be rated high after just three games.

"Zimbabwean's don't have very high quality bowling attack. It was yet to be seen, how Mukhtar fare against top quality attack," he added.

He praised the spirit and courage of Mukhtar Ahmed but said he has to prove himself with consistent performance and with quality batting.

Javed Miandad said it was good sign that a foreign Test playing nation have landed in Pakistan to play a series in Pakistan after six years.

He said Pakistan bowlers at times struggled and came under some heavy punishment from their batsmen.

Miandad noted that full house in both the matches was good message for international community that Pakistanis are passionate about the game of cricket.

"To be frank Pakistan team needed improvement in all areas of the game and top level fitness in this fastest brand of cricket.
