imageMELBOURNE: England captain Eoin Morgan's desperate run of poor form continued when he was out for his fourth duck in five innings during his side's World Cup opener against Australia in Melbourne.

Morgan, made skipper after Test captain Alastair Cook was axed from the one-day squad following a sequences of low scores, tried to pull medium-pacer Mitchell Marsh but instead got an under-edge that was superbly held, one-handed, by diving wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.

Morgan's exit meant he'd scored just two runs in his last five innings.
