imageThe blue-eyed chaiwala Arshad Khan, who became popular all over the world through a single picture which went viral, had a tough life before getting famous. In a morning show on ARY Digital he reveals what he used to do to earn his bread and butter.

Arshad, aged 17, is the third of seventeen siblings. He had never been to school and cannot read or write. He also does not have a mobile phone or has ever used the internet. Also, he had no idea when his photograph was taken. When asked what he will do when asked for autographs, Arshad said that he will give his thumb print.

Arshad also mentioned that his home has two rooms, and has no electricity. Arshad mentioned that his youngest sibling is just two weeks old and they all live in the tiny 2 room home in a village near Islamabad. He did some shopping after becoming famous, and bought a pair of footwear and a suit.

It set social media users swooning, with the 17-year-old’s image shared tens of thousands of times since October 14. He was also given a makeover on popular morning show hosted by Pakistani actress Nida Yasir.

He earlier said in an interview, “I was aware that I am handsome but you can’t do anything when you are poor,” he said, adding that “the image has changed the way I think”.
