People’s reactions while watching any movie in cinema are barely noticed. A company has now developed a technique in which along with someone watching a movie, the movie will also watch them.

A company known as Silver Logic Labs generated a computer program in which they equipped theatres with a computer vision that will catch all the emotions of people watching the movie. Be it tears because of an emotional scene or a jump due to a scary scene, the computer catches it all.

The program works through Artificial Intelligence (AI) where it looks at audience watching the movie and senses their emotions, even the slightest reactions, and later creates data that is analyzed.

“We’ve taken the emotional responses that people have to visual and auditory stimuli and converted it into a numeric value. And once it’s in a numeric value, then it’s just a matter of solving equations down to – well, how much did you actually like it?” said the CEO Jerimiah Hamon.

Hamon deems that this software is reliable and can help companies know how people react during movies. Once the AI is properly trained, it can possibly give speedy, dependable and thorough analysis of the data provided. This will in turn help organizations to better understand people and make any amendments required, helping them generate more money, reported Futurism.

Artificial Intelligence to replace humans

The software successfully works with 84-99 percent accuracy after being tested on different shows and movies. However, Hamon refused to provide deep details about his software, worrying that saying a lot would probably give away the “secret sauce” of the program.

According to Hamon, this software could also be used for other purposes such as polygraph test where it could determine a person’s stress levels or if he’s lying. Other use of this software could be in medical as it can predict patient’s pain and help identify proper treatment. It can also be used to identifying strokes or any illness that can help in timely treatments.

Hamon believes that his developed software would accurately work as AI contains the ability to detect sensitive emotions or any minute changes in them, according to Reddit.

“When I started this everyone told me, ‘You’ll never be able to predict that. Nobody can predict that,'” Hamon concluded.
