imageISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan has said that Pakistan team is united under Misbah's captaincy and it would start performing well.

"The morale of the team has been affected due to defeats against Australia in T20 and ODI series. But I hope shortcomings will be removed soon and the team will start performing well," he said in an interview.

He said that he was disappointed at team's loss against adding that poor batting was the main cause of Pakistan's defeat.

Chairman PCB made it clear that Misbah-ul-Haq was Pakistan's ODI captain and he would continue leading the team until the World Cup. "I want to make it clear that we have nominated Misbah as captain until the World Cup and there's no change in it," he said. He said all including Pakistan coach Waqar Younis and Chief selector-cum-Pakistan team manager Moin Khan were agreed that only Misbah should lead the team.

He said Shahid Afridi's comments regarding captaincy after the third ODI in Abu Dhabi were irresponsible adding that he (Afridi) had clarified now that he did not mean that.

Afridi, in the post-match press conference, had said that he came to know about his being named the stand-in captain through the media. To a question would he like to continue as the one-day captain until the World Cup, Afridi had said, "I think whoever is captain - Misbah or me - we should know about it. If I am to captain in the World Cup then I should know about it."
