Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) observed with reverence, respect

 

Law enforcement agencies made elaborate security arrangements for the mourning processions taken out from different areas of the city by deploying around 5,000 personnel and taking other safety measures.

 

The main procession of the Chehlum was taken out from the Colonel Maqbool Imambargah, which culminated at the Imambargah Qadeemi after passing through its designated route.

 

The Qadeemi Imambargah was the central point where all the processions gathered from different localities. 

 

Speakers paid glowing tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions for remaining steadfast against the tyrant forces. They also highlighted different aspects of the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his teachings for the promotion of Islam.

 

Under the security plan, no one was allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions.

 

Additional force of Special Branch Police, Elite Force, Punjab Constabulary, Lady Police and Rangers and members of district peace committee along with district police was deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

 

Special checking of the route was completed before the start of procession, whereas the mourners were checked with metal detectors and walk-through gates installed at the entry points. There was also aerial surveillance of the route and the Chehlum procession.

 

Traffic police made a special plan by diverting public and private transport to alternate routes for smooth flow of vehicles.

 

Administrator City District Government had imposed Section-144 under which assembling of more than four persons, carrying weapons and pillion riding, was banned.

 

Under the directives of Interior Ministry, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority kept the mobile service suspended till culmination of mourning processions for security reasons.
