Lahore police for blocking cellphones on Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) Chehlum

Police have called for suspension of cellular services in Lahore from 9am to 12am on Thursday to avoid any untoward incident on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

Faithful take out processions every year to observe the 40th day of Imam Hussain's (RA) martyrdom.

Processions and Imambargahs have previously been targeted by terrorists. In November on Ashura, at least five people were killed and eleven others injured in twin blasts in Karachi's Orangi Town.

In a separate incident the same day, at least five people were killed and over a hundred injured in a bomb blast in Dera Ismail Khan during a procession.
