PPP pursuing policy of reconciliation: Sindh CM

30 Dec, 2012

He was talking to reporters here on Sunday after the concluding ceremony of the 269th Urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

"To conciliate the annoyed partners is what the PPP belives in and it wants to work with the same spirit with the Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) and other parties," he added.

The Chief Minister said difference of opinion was a part of democracy and political parties evolve a working mechanism despite their disagreements in order to ensure greater public interest.

Replying to a question, he said elections would be held on time according to the country's Constitution. "The assemblies will be dissolved and a caretaker government will take the helm as soon as the constitutional period lapses," he said.

Answering a question about allotting the leader of opposition slot to PML-F's MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbassi, he said a decision in this regard would be taken by the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly.

Qaim Ali Shah said the PPP was often made a victim of baseless propaganda because it struggled for the democratic rights of the people.

He said PPP's services and sacrifices for the people of Pakistan and Sindh were far greater than any conspiracy being hatched to malign the party.

"The way our opponents who used to give deadlines for the collapse of our government proved wrong, the same will happen to those who say the PPP will face defeat in the elections," the chief minister said adding that the people could not be misled by vitriolic campaign against the PPP.    The Chief Minister was accompanied by Sindh Culture Minister Sassui Palijo, Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadis Shahid Nadeem Bhutto, MPA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Hashmi, Sndh Secretary Culture Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo, DIG Hyderabad Range Sanaullah Abbassi and Deputy Commissioner Matiari Shahnawaz Laghari, among others.
