ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday announced the schedule for the door-to-door verification of voting lists in Karachi.

An ECP handout stated that the verification process, scheduled to commence from January 5, was likely to be completed within 69 days. Pakistan Army and Frontier Constabulary (FC) would provide protection to all verification teams.

The commission stated that ECP teams would spend at least 18 days checking voters’ lists. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will announce the new voters’ lists on February 24.

The Supreme Court had ordered the ECP to carry out door-to-door verification of voting lists in Karachi with army’s help.
