KARACHI: Indian writer Kapil Chopra has won his legal battle against producers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt after filing plagiarism charges in April-May this year.

Chopra claimed that the script for “Jannat 2” belonged to him but the Bhatts denied him credits in the movie. In return, he sued the Bhatts for Rs.1 million and also demanded credit for the story, but the Bhatts defended their stand.

Not only that, after the court’s judgment in Chopra’s favor, he’ll get Rs.2 million from the Bhatts and as per the court’s orders, he was also duly credited when the film was screened on TV this week.

After a long battle for his rights, he was relieved and happy with the court’s decision. His fellow writers also appreciated his efforts.

The movie was released on May 4, 2012.
