German prelim inflation slows to 1.9pc in Nov

28 Nov, 2012

On a monthly basis, German prices eased 0.1 percent, after holding steady in October. Monthly falls in the cost of petrol, heating oil and package holidays helped contribute to easing inflation, the statistics office said.

Consumer prices harmonised to compare with other European Union countries showed a monthly fall of 0.1 percent and a year-on-year rise of 2.0 percent.

The Statistics Office's preliminary inflation calculations are based on data contributed by six German states.

Final German price data for November are due to be released on December 12, the office said.
