Governor Sindh lauds role of Ulema during Muharram

He was talking to Ulema from various schools of thought at the Governor House here on Monday.

 

Sindh Information Minister, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Commissioner Karachi, Administrator KMC, Inspector General of Police Sindh, and representative of Rangers were also present on the occasion.

 

The Governor said that tolerance and harmony can help in safeguarding against the activities of terrorist elements.

 

He stated that the situation was very serious during the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

 

However, the law enforcement agencies - Rangers, police and intelligence agencies used their energies and took timely actions for controlling the situation.

 

Arrests were made and big quantity of weapons and explosive were recovered and this helped towards the maintenance of law and order.

 

The Governor further pointed out that the terrorists had plans to commit terrorist activities through motorcycles and mobile phones.

 

However, he added, the timely measures by the government frustrated such designs.

 

Dr. Ishrat said that during Muharram, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, remained in constant contact.

 

He said that there was no interfaith hatred in the province and Ulema also exhibited full unity as well as tolerance and harmony.

 

The Governor said that with unity and brotherhood we can defeat the machinations of those who want to create instability in the country.

 

Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that Governor Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh worked day and night and because of this no untoward incident took place.

 

Mufti Munib ur Rehman said that with the spirit of unity and brotherhood we can frustrate the designs of those who want to sow the seed of hatred.

 

Wasim Aftab of MQM congratulated the people for maintaining unity and brotherhood.

 

Maulana Mirza Yousuf Hussain, Saghir Abidi, Maulana Asad Thanvi, Maulana Tanvir ul Haq Thanvi also expressed their views on the occasion.
