Martyred cops set heroic examples, make nation proud: Malik

It was stated by Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik while attending the funeral prayer of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Islamabad Police Sher Muhammad who could not survive the wounds after he was seriously injured in a bid to foil attempt of some miscreants who in guise of protestors fired at policemen, tried to torch Tarnol police station and weaponry during protests.

 

ASI Sher Muhammad remained under treatment at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences from where he was shifted to private hospital where he was treatment on department's expenditures.

 

He struggled for his life for a couple of months but expired on November 23.

 

Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, DIG (Headquarters) Sultan Azam Temuri, DIG (Security) Ahmed Mukarram, AIG (Operations) Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq, SSP (Headquarters) Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SSP (Traffic) Dr. Moeen Masood and officials from district administration and Islamabad police also attended his funeral prayer.

 

Interior Minister saluted to the gallant cop of Islamabad Police ASI Sher Muhammad and said that he was conferred `Sitare-e- Shujaat' due to his brave act.

 

The minister announced to give Rs.3 million to the family of deceased under PM Package for Martyred personnel and said that all educational expenses of the children of deceased cop will be borne by Islamabad police.

 

"Though there can be no compensation for the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, the government is providing maximum relief and financial support to the bereaved families through Prime Ministers' package," he maintained.

 

Rehman Malik said that family of deceased will be further financially supported and Prime Minister will be requested for more assistance to his family.

 

On the occasion, the IGP said that culprits of this incident had already been sent to jail.

 

He said that security of Islamabad has been put on high alert and nefarious designs of terrorists will be foiled.

 

The minister also carried the coffin and the body was later sent to his native town in District Jhelum.
