WFP provides food assistance to 1.2mn flood victims

Talking to APP on Monday WFP Spokesperson Amjad told that WFP and its food security cluster counterparts estimate that 1.3 million flood victims in Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shekarpur, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad are in need to immediate food assistance.

 

He said WFP led logistics cluster contains a total of 17 boats which are currently facilitating search, adding rescue efforts as well as relief cargo transport was under way in Qamaber Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Kashmir.  He added in rescue operation 40,500 people were shifted to safe places and transported some metric tons of life saving food assistance to the most isolated locations.

 

To a question he said Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports that 5 million people have been affected by this year monsoon floods.
