'WB to fund development schemes in Punjab'

He disclosed this while addressing a meeting regarding six uplift schemes of US$ 991.25 million in Punjab at Planning and Development department Punjab, says a press release issued here today.

 

The meeting reviewed the pace of work of the WB funded development projects in Punjab including Punjab Municipal Services Improvement including (SWCL) projects worth US$ 50 million, improvement of various barrages including Jinnah Barrage worth US$ 145.60 million, on-going land record management and information system project of US$ 45.65 million, Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Programme project of US$ 250 million, Punjab Education Sector Project Phase-II worth US$ 350 million and Punjab Cities Governance Improvement Project worth US$ 150 million.

 

Planning and Development Department Punjab Chairman Javed Aslam briefed the WB Country Director about the funds spent on the uplift schemes in Punjab.

 

WB economist Hanid Mukhtar, agriculture and livestock expert Tahira Syed, education expert Huma Ali, irrigation expert Masood Ahmed and Secretary P&D department Arif Ali Baloch, Secretary Livestock and dairy development Irfan Elahi, agriculture secretary Mushtaq Ahmed and other officers were also present on the occasion.
