Brazil jobs creation improves in September vs August

17 Oct, 2012

The number was slightly below analysts' median forecast of 154,000 jobs, but much better than the 100,938 posted in August.

The Brazilian economy is recovering after a year of near stagnation as the country's consumption-led growth model started to show signs of strain. President Dilma Rousseff's government has given tax breaks to dozens of industries and billions of dollars in cheap loans to bolster activity.

Brazil's robust job market has prevented the economy from falling into recession as a weakening industrial sector drags on growth. A buoyant services sector has been the main generator of new jobs so far this year.
