Caretaker setup only after present government: Kaira

Talking to the media in Islamabad on Thursday after attending the consultative meeting of Election Commission‚ he said consultation will be held with all the political parties both within and outside the parliament for the installation of a consensus caretaker set up.  “There should not be any concerns or political scoring on the matter,” he remarked.

 

Rejecting delay in general elections‚ he expressed the confidence that consensus will be achieved on the caretaker set up.

 

Kaira said next general elections will be held on time and in a free‚ fair and transparent manner.

 

Responding to a question‚ the Information Minister said all the political parties including Pakistan Peoples’ Party has full confidence on the Election Commission. He said the election commission is moving in the right direction by holding consultations with all the political parties.

 

Qamar Zaman Kaira said the present government and the caretaker set up will extend full support to the Election Commission in terms of funds and technical assistance to ensure transparent elections.
