Southeast Asia's biggest economy has seen weaker demand for its exports in recent months, leading to a current account deficit of $6.94 billion in the second quarter.

The imbalances have led investors to pressure the rupiah, to make it Asia's worst performing emerging market currency this year.

"But we estimate, with all effort, the current account will be maintained below 3 percent," Martowardojo told reporters.
