93 Pak Missions issue 88, 152 duplicate passports in last five years, NA told

In a written reply to the question of Himayatullah Mayar, he said two passports, one each from PAREP Hanoi and Dushanbe were stolen/misplaced during processing in the office and the matter was reported to local Police.

Regarding the criteria of issuing duplicate passports, he said the applicant has to produce police report regarding the loss of the passport. The confirmation of the lost passport is obtained from the original passport issuing authority before issuing the duplicate passport.

In a written reply to another question of Shagufta Saeed, he said 324 car lifters were apprehended by Anti Car Lifting Cell Islamabad from Jan 1, 2009 to Dec 31, 2012. Out of which 232 accused were challenged, whereas 92 accused were released.

Giving yearly break up he said in year 2009, 121 car lifters were arrested, 85 challaned and 36 released. In 2010, 98 car lifting accused were arrested, 66 challaned and 32 release. And in year 2011, 105 car thieves were arrested, 81 challaned and 24 were released due to various reasons.

He said no fresh recruitment in any rank is being made in Islamabad Capital Territory Police due to ban imposed by the Government.

In a written reply to another question he said 80.792 million (89,791,810) Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) have been issued by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) till Aug 9, 2012.

As many as 251771 applications of new CNIC are still pending before NADRA. The delay is due to incomplete information provided by the applicants.

Replying to another question the interior minister told the House that a semi Mobile Registration Unit (SMRU) is operational at Jadba (Kala Dhaka) since Dec 2011.

And one NADRA Registration Centre, two Man Pack Units and one mobile registration van are also operating in district Torghar (Kala Dhaka) for registration of general public.

In a written reply to a question the interior minister told House that as many as 2673 foreign students are studying in religious seminaries up to Dec 2011.

The total number of proscribed organizations in the country is 49 including 45 banned organization, 3 enlisted under UNSCR 1267, 3 and one organizations is under watch list.
