Masses and business community deserve a terror free society where everyone can pursue his goals and play role in the national development with peace of mind, said Malik Sohail, Chairman Media Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) speaking at a ceremony.

Malik Sohail said that Parliament should put in more efforts to make the society more secure and protect lives and property of people by revisiting the anti-terrorism laws.

He said that many terrorists escape punishment due to weaker laws while thousands of security personnel have laid down their lives in war against terror and insurgency. But, the situation still calls for drastic measures including provision of appropriate tools to intercept and obstruct terrorists.

He said our lawmakers can review various international laws and acts framed against terrorism and take action to curb the menace of terrorism and extremism.

Other speaker at the ceremony said that the politicians should give a serious thought to prevailing situation and threats to the country instead of indulging in personal criticism and defaming each other.

The speakers also called upon media to play its effective role to highlight the plight of the families fallen victim to terrorist activities.

They said that security institutions need expanded authority and there was need to provide security to witnesses who are willing to testify against the terrorists.
