Olympic Park’s carbon copy made from lego

06 Aug, 2012

Warren Elsmore, who said his official job is to be a ‘freelance lego artist’, made the miniature version of the Olympic venue by using 250,000 lego bricks.

This lego world features all the standout venues and structures from Anish Kapoor’s Orbit, to the swooping roof of the Aquatics Centre and, certainly, the grand Olympic Stadium.

Elsmore creates unique, one-off lego models for individuals and corporate companies.

“My colleague and I built the Olympic model over a three week period. For this display, I planned very little in advance and most of the model was free built, simply by looking at pictures of the site and building what I see,’ said Elsmore.

The model weighs about 80kg and cost around $300,000 to build for scratch.

“Every brick we use is a standard lego element, with no painting, gluing or non-lego parts,” he added.
