Gems, jewellery exports go up

The jewellery exports grew by 128.77 per cent during the period under review as against the corresponding period of last year.

The jewellery exports during the year 2011-12 was recorded at $921.855 million against that of $402.967 million during the year 2010-11, revealed the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On month on month basis, the exports of Jewellery increased from $54.597 million in June 2011 to $67.094 million in June 2012 recording an increase of 278.17 per cent during the period under review.

The export of Jewellery during June 2012 over the pervious month of same year also jumped by 314 per cent.

Similarly, the exports of gems, recorded increase of 4.63 per cent during last fiscal year (2011-12) increasing from $3.8 million in 2010-11 to $3.978 million during the year 2011-12.

On month on month basis the export of gems increased by 102 percent from $0.278 million to $0.373 million during June 2012 over same period of last year.

The gems exports during June 2012 over last month of same year also witnessed an increase of 120.83 percent.
