Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim appointed new Election Commissioner

President Asif Ali Zardari approved and signed the summary for his selection as CEC chief.

Ebrahim is expected to take oath soon to serve as the new CEC chief.

On July 9, the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had unanimously approved Ebrahim’s name for the office which had been vacant since March.

Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim is the 24th person to occupy the post, after 12 permanent and 11 acting CECs.
