KARACHI: Megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s TV production unit “Red Chillies Idiot Box” has shut down.

June 30 apparently was the last working day for the team of Khan’s TV production unit. Founded in 2009, it did 12 shows including Farah Khan’s and Preity Zinta’s chat shows.

However, despite names like Farah Khan hosting “Tere Mere Beech Mein” and Preity Zinta hosting “Up Close and Personal with PZ” and being associated with the shows, most of them have failed to catch public attention.

Sources say, “So, while the other employees have all gone home, only the post-production unit is currently working on a music show.”

But the production house’s management has not confirmed the closing yet.

Meanwhile, Khan, who co-owns an IPL team, is acquiring a 50 per cent shareholding in one of India's oldest and most successful football clubs, Dempo FC, for around Rs300 Millions, signalling the movie star's growing interest in the business of sports.
