Jewellery, cement, guar exports go up

The jewellery exports grew by 105.35 per cent during first 11 months of current fiscal year (2011-12) as against the corresponding period of last year.

The jewellery exports during July-May (2011-12) were recorded at $715.384 million against that of $348.37 million during July-May (2010-11), revealed the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On month on month basis, the exports of Jewellery increased from $ 34.3 million in May 2011 to $67.094 million in May 2012 recording an increase of 95 per cent during the period under review.

Similarly, the exports of gems, recorded increase of 29.51 per cent during month of May this year over the same period of last month. The gems exports increased from $288,000 in May 2011 to $373,000 in May 2012.

The exports of gems, however recorded 3.09 percent decrease during first 11 months of current financial year over same period of last year.

The gems exports decreased from $3.524 million during the period July-May 2010-11 to $3.415 million during the same period of current fiscal year.

The exports of guar and guar products witnessed a marginal growth of 244 per cent during the period July-May 2011-12 over the same period of last year.

The exports of guar and guar products increased from $38.624 million in July-May last year to $132.908 million during the first 11 months of current fiscal year.

Moreover, cement exports also go up by 7.73 per cent during the period under review. Cement exports during July-May (2010-11) remained $414.773 million, whereas during the same period of current year the commodity was exported worth of $446.845 million.

The furniture exports witnessed negative growth of 4.12 per cent from $6.096 million during the period July-May (2010-11) to $ 5.845 million during the same period of current fiscal year.

Molasses witnessed positive growth of 18.42 per cent from $10.359 million during the period July-May (2010-11) to $12.267 million in July-May (2011-12).
