LCCI urges govt to hold talks with CNG Association

05 Jun, 2012

The LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh expressed these views while talking to Senior Vice Chairman All Pakistan CNG Association Capt. (R) Shujah Anwar, APCNGA Chairman (Lahore Chapter) Sami Udddin, SVC Aleem Butt, and General Secretary (Punjab) Khawaja Baber during a visit to a protest camp.

The LCCI President said the government's decision to impose taxes on the CNG would hamper investment of Rs 500 billion made through this sector.

Irfan Sheikh termed the increase in CNG prices is unjustified, therefore, the chamber would continue to support the APCNGA in this regard, adding that CNG price hike would also affect the local and foreign investments in the country.

The APCNGA office-bearers informed the LCCI President that protest demonstrations against the raise in CNG price and imposition of more CESS on CNG would continue across the country. The association rejected any more increase in the CESS tax on CNG, so all CNG stations in Pakistan would remain closed till acceptance of their demands.
