THE RUPEE: Weak trend on interbank

Pakistan Rupee exchange rate against USD was same in both interbank and open markets on Thursday. However, as compared to Wednesday's rates, PKR exchange rate weakened in interbank market while remaining unchanged in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee weakened by 15 paisas for buying and by 30 paisas for selling against USD over Wednesday's rates closing at 160.50 and 161 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR showed no change with respect to Wednesday's rates closing at 160.50 and 161.00 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR exchange rate weakened by 50 paisas for buying and by 1 rupee for selling closing at 173 and 175 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 20 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43.20 and 43.40 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR weakened by 40 paisas for buying and by 30 paisas for selling closing at 42.10 and 42.30 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee lost its worth in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Thursday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback opened on a positive note at Rs 160.10 and Rs 162.20 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 160.25 and Rs 161.60 on Wednesday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 160.30 and Rs 161.65 on buying and selling counters, respectively, the dealers added.

On the other hand, the British Pound was traded at Rs 193.20 and Rs 196.70 on buying and selling sides, respectively, the dealers added.
