FWBL training under gender equity programme

KARACHI: The First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) has started imparting training under its gender equity programme.

A spokesperson of the Bank said here on Wednesday that the training is being conducted simultaneously in Karachi and Lahore by the Business Development and Training Centres (BD & TC) of the FWBL.

The training is being imparted to women in the areas of fashion Designing and Food Production.

It was pointed out that to provide quality training to women FWBL Business Development and Training Centres have collaborated with NIDA (National Institute of Design Analysis) Karachi and COTHOM (College of Tourism & Hotel Management) Lahore.

The First Women Bank Limited is implementing a two year pilot project for the provision of capacity building and skill development trainings particularly to women from low income group and for which the Aurat Foundation has awarded a grant of Rs. 13.8 million to FWBL under the Gender Equity Programme supported by the American people through USAID for a period of two years, the FWBL statement said.

GEP is a five years' programme implemented in Pakistan by Aurat Foundation in collaboration with The Asia Foundation to serve the cause of women's empowerment and advancement in the country, the statement added.
