Inspector General of Police (Prisons) Nusrat Mangan has said that the affected inmates have been isolated and kept in quarantine. He added corona tests are also being conducted in other jails of Sindh.

He maintained that all inmates and staff will be tested, adding that around 300 prisoners are being tested daily. The police official mentioned that there are approximately 3,500 prisoners at the Karachi Central Jail.

Earlier, Sindh's death toll reached 280 after the province lost three more people to coronavirus.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the province conducted 4,679 tests in the past 24 hours, out of which 864 people tested positive for coronavirus. He said till now the province has conducted 12,7573 tests, out of which 17,241 have come out positive.

The CM also shared that three more people have also died from the disease, taking the death toll to 280. He further shared that 136 patients are in critical condition, with 29 placed on ventilator.

Shah added that today, 280 patients have recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries in Sindh to 4,489.
