Sealed markets in Karachi resume business

  • With the permission of the Deputy Commissioner, the shops sealed in Saddar including Zainab Market will be reopened today (Monday).

The Deputy Commissioner District South has permitted the opening of markets in Saddar, which were sealed last week for violations of SOPs.

With the permission of the Deputy Commissioner, the shops sealed in Saddar including Zainab Market will be reopened today (Monday).

In addition, Gul Plaza market located on MA Jinnah Road was also opened today after it was shut for violating the SOPs, the market was de-sealed in the presence of Assistant Commissioner.

Just days ago, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Karachi and police sealed Zainab Market and Gul Plaza as traders and shopkeepers failed to follow SOPs set by the provincial government, in wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The police officials said that majority of the people, both sellers and buyers, were not wearing masks and gloves.

They said that the shops also lacked proper sanitization facilities which is compulsory under the set SOPs.
