THE RUPEE: Weak mode

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 70 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over Tuesday's rates closing at 160.80 and 161.20 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR went down by 50 paisas for both buying and selling with respect to yesterday's rates closing at 160.30 and 161 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR weakened by one rupee for buying and by 50 paisas for selling closing at 172 and 173.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR weakened by 10 paisas for buying and by 20 paisas for selling closing at 43 and 43.40 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR weakened by 10paisas for buying while recording no change for selling closing at 41.90 and 42.20 for buying and selling respectively.

LAHORE

The Pak rupee lost its worth in relation to the greenback but improved its value against British Pound in the local currency markets on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback opened at Rs 159.80 and Rs 161.40 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 159.10 and Rs 161.10 on Tuesday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 160.50 and Rs 161.15 on buying and selling, counters, respectively, the dealers added.

On the other hand, the local currency improved its worth against British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 195.10 and Rs 198.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 195.70 and Rs 198.05 on Tuesday, the dealers added.

ISLAMABAD

The rupee recovered 50 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.60(selling) against last rate of Rs161(buying) and Rs 161.10(selling).

The dollar closed at Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.60(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 103,400(selling) and Rs. 103,200 ( buying) in the local Sarafa(gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
