'66 percent of coronavirus patients are male, 34 percent female in capital'

A sum of 66 percent of the coronavirus patients in the federal capital are male and 34 percent female, according to the official data.

According to the data shared by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, the most affected is the 30 to 39 age group.

The number of Covid-19 cases is continuously increasing in Sector G-6, G-11 and Sector I-10, it says.

As per the official data, the main hotspots of the capital include Sector I-10 with 62 cases, Tarlai 54 cases, Bhara Kahu 42 cases, I-8 31 cases, and 30 cases in Sector G-11.

Similarly, 28 cases have been reported from Sector G-6, 26 from Sector G-8, 23 from Sector G-10, 26 from Sohan, 20 from Sector G-9, 23 from Shehzad Town, 16 from Sector I-9, 20 from Sector G-13, 17 from Sector F-7, and 17 from Sector G-7.

13 cases have been reported from Sector F-6, 12 from Rawal Town, and 13 from Sector E-11.

The tally of Covid-19 patients crossed 759 in the federal capital on Wednesday.

Out of the total, 92 patients have so far recovered and six people have died.

According to the official data, on May 12, total cases in the city were 716, May 11, 679; May 10, 641; May 9, 609; May 8, 558; May 7, 521; May 6, 485; May 5, 464; May 4, 415; May 3, 393; on May 2, 365; and May 1, 343.

The administration has also continued disinfection spray across the city including the slum areas, and the major Marakiz and sectors of the capital.

As per the recent notification, the government has not allowed large shopping malls to open, but other markets that have been allowed to resume businesses have drawn crowds and gross violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been witnessed.

The traders association and unions who had assured local administration that all necessary safety measures would be implemented have taken no step in this regard.

The capital administration has allowed shops in commercial centers to open conditionally for five days a week in the light of a government announcement.

Under the SOPs, wearing of face mask and use of hand sanitizer is mandatory as well as checking of temperature of employees in shops.
