THE RUPEE: Slight recovery

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In Interbank market, Pakistan Rupee went up by 20 paisas for buying and by 10 paisas for selling closing at 160 and 160.30 for buying and selling respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR recorded no change for buying against USD but went up by 20 paisas for selling closing at 159.50 and 160 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR exchange rate did not change for buying while it depreciated by 20 paisas for selling closing at 171 and 173 for buying and selling respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR went down by 20 paisas for buying but recorded no change for selling with respect to yesterday's rates closing at 42.70 and 42.90 for buying and selling respectively.

Against SR, PKR went down by 10 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 41.50 and 41.80 respectively.

LAHORE

The Pak rupee recovered its earlier losses in relation to the greenback and British Pound in the local currency market on Friday. According to currency dealers, the greenback opened at Rs 158.50 and Rs 161.30 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 158.20 and Rs 161.50 on Thursday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 158.15 and Rs 160.90 on buying and selling, counters, respectively, the dealers added.

The local currency also showed improvement against British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 193.90 and Rs 196.50 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 194.00 and Rs 198.50 on Thursday, the dealers added.

ISLAMABAD

The dollar remained firm against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs161 (buying) and Rs 161.50 (selling) against same last rate.

It closed at Rs161 (buying) and Rs 161.50 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 100,700 (selling) and Rs 100,500 (buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
