THE RUPEE: Slight fall

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In Interbank market, Pakistan Rupee went down by 30 paisas for buying and by 20 paisas for selling closing at 159.80 and 160.20 for buying and selling respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR went down by the same rate against USD as in interbank market i.e., by 30 paisas for buying and by 20 paisas for selling closing at 159.50 and 160 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR exchange rate did not change for buying while it depreciated by 50 paisas for selling closing at 171 and 173 for buying and selling respectively.

Against both UAE Dirham and SAR, PKR went down by 30 paisas for buying and by 10 paisas for selling with respect to yesterday's rates. Against AED, it closed at 42.30 and 42.60 while against SAR, it closed at 41.30 and 41.60 for buying and selling respectively.

LAHORE

The Pak rupee further improved its worth in relation to the greenback and British Pound in the local currency market on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback opened at Rs 158.00 and Rs 161.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 157.45 and Rs 160.00 on Tuesday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 157.10 and Rs 160.00 on buying and selling, counters, respectively, the dealers added.

The local currency also improved its worth against British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 193.00 and Rs 196.50 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 193.00 and Rs 196.90 on Tuesday, the dealers added.

ISLAMABAD

The dollar gained Rs 1 against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs160(buying) and Rs 160.50(selling) aaginst last rate of Rs159 (buying) and Rs 159.50(selling).

It closed at Rs160(buying) and Rs 160.50(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs 102,400 and Rs 102,000(buying) in the local Sarafa(gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
