Alarm bells have been rung for the residents of Karachi, as the weather in the city is likely to change and a severe heatwave is expected.

The Meteorological Department said that the heatwave will start from today and the temperature is likely to go up to 41 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no sea breeze at the moment in the city while hot winds are blowing from the northwest at a speed of 13 km per hour, which will further increase the intensity of heat.

Sardar Sarfraz, director of the Meteorological Department, said the city would be engulfed in heatwave from May 5 to 8, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius.

Hot and dry winds will blow from the northwestern desert areas of Balochistan. On these days, citizens should limit their outdoor activities from 11 am to 4 pm and cover their heads when going out.
