Annual budget will be people friendly: Senator

HYDERABAD: The PPP Senator Dr. Karim Khawaja has said that the Annual Budget 2012-13 will be the people friendly and the government would ensure appointments of four thousand more medical officers through Sindh Public Service Commission.

This he stated while inaugurating the renovated Medical Emergency Ward-4 at Liaquat University Hospital City Branch on Friday.

He informed that on the personal interest of the President Asif Ali Zardari, the health facilities are being improved with enhancement of salaries and allowances of doctors and other medical staff.

He said that the provincial government is constructing 18 hospitals of 250 to 300 beds in different cities of the province under Sindh Health Authority. The construction of these hospitals is near to completion in Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allahyar which will be handed over for management to Liaquat University Hospital.

The Senator while appreciating the performance of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, said that the standard of the university has been increased during the tenure of the present government.

He criticized the kidnapping of Surgeon Aftab Qureshi and informed that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the incident and asked the concerned departments to ensure the safe and early recovery of the eminent surgeon.

Among others, the Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro Prof. Syed Mashoor Alam Shah, Medical Superintendent Liaquat University Hospital Dr. Captain Syed Kazim Raza Shah, Secretary Pakistan Medical Association Sindh Dr. Hadi Bux Jatoi and Dr. Beekha Ram were also present on the occasion.
