  • Umar says it is need of the hour to find a balance between containing the spread of the disease and ensuring lower-income people don't have to go hungry.
  • Mirza says 11 people died of the virus during the last 24 hours taking death tally across the country to 107.

Addressing a media briefing in Islamabad on Wednesday, Umar said those who were advocating for ensuring that the impoverished people would not lose their income because of the lockdown does not mean they want citizens to die from the virus.

He added those who were in favour of a complete lockdown failed to realize that poor people will die from hunger as a result of restrictions.

He maintained it is need of the hour to find a balance between containing the spread of the disease and ensuring lower-income people don't have to go hungry.

He remarked, "People like me can never understand what a lower-income person goes through."

He said 73, 439 corona tests have been conducted so far in the country. He said 11 people died of the virus during the last 24 hours. "The total number of deaths across the country have reached 107."
He said guidelines are prepared on the advice of the World Health Organisation and experts and they are available on the government’s website.
