32-bed ICU facility opens at Services Hospital

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Thursday inaugurated a 32-bed ICU facility for critical corona patients, here at the Services Hospital.

In this facility, the critical Corona patients from Expo centre field hospital will be shifted. The minister visited the ICU facility and reviewed the arrangements.

Principal SIMS Prof. Dr. Memhood Ayaz informed the minister that ventilators and other equipment have been provided in the ICU.

Later, the minister addressed the nurses who were imparted necessary training to handle the Corona patients. She directed to provide best treatment facilities to the corona patients.

On the other hand, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar told media here at Governor's House that Prime Minister Imran Khan will not compromise on accountability and transparency, and those caused harm to the country and nation will be taken to task. "Opposition is not focused on corona crisis and doing politics by criticizing the government," he said, adding: "This time is not of doing politics in any way rather serving the country and nation. Nation will always be grateful to doctors and paramedics for their services in the time of trial."

To a question, the Governor said, "We have founded corona telemedicine centres on March 19 and this programme is moving ahead successfully. So far, 25 corona telemedicine centres have been established in Punjab alone and more than 60,000 people have been benefited from these centres. Now we are extending the scope of these centres to other parts of the country as well."

He said that five to ten per cent people are coming out of their homes unnecessarily despite all government's advisories and restrictions. The people will have to make understand that coronavirus is getting more dangerous and 220 million Pakistanis will have to fulfill their responsibility to fight it out otherwise corona threat will continue to loom high.

Moreover, CEO of the KFC Goraiz Khan in a meeting with the Governor announced that the personnel of Police, Army, Rangers and other security agencies performing duties at check- points in Lahore will be provided lunch by the KFC.
