  • PM says measures need to be taken for the benefit of the economy and counter the deadly virus.
  • Relief package will also be beneficial for development of other industries associated with the construction sector: Imran.

Speaking at an event during a tax-refund cheque distribution ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, the PM said measures need to be taken for the benefit of the economy and counter the deadly virus.

He added, "The relief package will also be beneficial for development of other industries associated with the construction sector."

He maintained, “The construction of road infrastructure does not pose danger of the spread of coronavirus.” He stated that necessary SOPs will also be developed to ensure the safety of the workers.

On the occasion, Imran Khan appreciated the efforts of commerce ministry, which framed the distribution policy of the multi-billion rupee package and compiled a list of industries which can be operated during the current situation.

“We have promoted the industries and incentivised the businesses. We have to create an environment that was present in the 1960s,” he said. “And this tax-refund is part of that incentive so that businesses have liquidity.”

The prime minister said it is nature's blessing the deadly virus has not affected Pakistan like it has other countries around the world.
