In a tweet on Wednesday, the PM said, "Prime Minister’s COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund-2020 has been set up to help us fight this pandemic."

He added, "I want everyone to donate towards this fund which will be used to take care of all those who have been made destitute by the lockdown." Imran urged people to send tax deductible donation to an account established in National Bank of Pakistan.

On March 31, 2020, Imran Khan announced to set up ‘PM’s Relief Fund for COVID-19’ and a youth force to effectively tackle the situation arising out of the deadly contagion which has so far killed over 30,000 people across the world.

He urged people including the overseas Pakistanis to contribute generously to the relief fund. He said those contributing to the fund will not be asked any questions about the source of their funds, rather they will be given tax incentives.

He said the money raised through this fund will be used for giving financial assistance to the poor people hit by coronavirus through Ehsas Programme.
